Maine State Museum to host Girl Scout Centennial Exhibit
The Maine State Museum in Augusta is preparing to host a special exhibit, Girl Scouts: Celebrating One Hundred Years. Produced in partnership with Girl Scouts of Maine, the exhibit will be open to the public from June 23 through August 31.  On display will be vintage period uniforms, pins, patches, ephemeras, cookie merchandise, camping gear, and many other novelty items. Girl Scout receives Prudential Spirit of Community Award
Carley Osgood, of Cape Neddick, was presented with The Prudential Spirit of Community Award at the Girl Scouts of Maine Annual Meeting on Saturday, April 21, at the Elks Lodge in Waterville. Donna Brown, a Prudential Representative, presented the award. See more

GSME receives United Way of York County Grants
Girl Scouts of Maine announces that they are the recipients of two, one-year grants totaling $16,000 from the United Way of York County.  The grants will enable Girl Scouts of Maine to provide leadership experiences for girls that help them discover their personal best, connect with others, and take action to solve problems and improve their communities. Pam Hurley-Moser honored as 2012 Woman of Distinction
The Girl Scouts of Maine honored Pam Hurley-Moser as their 2012 Woman of Distinction at the 15th Annual Women of Distinction Dinner and Auction on Wednesday, December 7 at the Marriott at Sable Oaks in South Portland. The event raised nearly $100,000 to support Girl Scouting programming throughout Maine. See more

Girl Scouts send 1,000 pounds of books to Tanzania
Children’s Books for Tanzania is a project begun by Dr. Sue Miesfeldt, a Cape Elizabeth oncologist who, while working in Tanzania, East Africa, noted the great need for primary school educational resources, particularly reading books.  The project provides several primary schools in Tanzania with English reading books for their students.  Read more
